President: Mr. Modisa Sekhamo Motswaledi MT (ASCP), MS.

Mr. Motswaledi currently holds the position of Senior Lecturer and Head of the School of Allied Health Professions at the University of Botswana. He is also the Chairperson of the Faculty of Health Sciences Research and Publication Committee.  Mr. Motswaledi was previously engaged as Deputy Director in the Department of Clinical Services at the Botswana Ministry of Health, Chief Medical Scientific Officer, Head of Natural Sciences at the Institute of Health Sciences in Gaborone, and also served as a Board Member for the Botswana-Harvard AIDS Institute.

Vice President: Mr. Kereng Mphoyakgosi BSMT

Mr. Mphoyakgosi has a BSc in Medical Technology from the University of Delaware, USA, and currently holds the Principal Medical Laboratory Scientist position with the Ministry of Health. He previously worked in various laboratories across the country including at Palapye Primary Hospital, Mmadinare Primary Hospital, Kasane Primary Hospital, Princess Marina Hospital, Botswana-Harvard HIV Reference Laboratory (BHHRL), Letsholathebe District  Hospital, and the National Blood Transfusion Centre. Mr. Mphoyakgosi is currently deployed at the Botswana National External Quality Assurance Laboratory (BNEQAL), where he is tasked with managing the proficiency testing program for local medical laboratories. Mr. Mphoyakgosi has dedicated his life to laboratory services over the past 24 years.

Secretary General: Ms. Bontle Mbeha DBT, MSLCS

Ms Bontle Mbeha has a Masters degree in Life Sciences obtained from the University of South Africa. She did her BTECH degree with Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Biomedical Technology. She currently works at the National Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory and has more than  6 years of experience in TB.  Her area of interest in her field is research. Ms Mbeha also has a certificate in ISO15189 requirements and Internal Auditing. And with that she brings a wealth of knowledge of quality TB diagnosis to the Institute

Treasurer: Ms. Gaone Mabusa DMLT, BSc (Hons) BMS

Ms. Gaone Kamogelo Mabusa holds a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the Institute of Health Sciences, Gaborone, and a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from the Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom.  Ms. Mabusa is currently employed as a Principal Medical Scientific Officer 11 at the Scottish Livingstone Hospital Laboratory in Molepolole.

Additional Member: Mr. Innocent Mupunga HBMLS (Zim), MSc (SA)

Mr. Innocent Mupunga has 12 years experience in the medical laboratory field, and currently holds a Laboratories Manager position, overseeing all branches for Diagnofirm Medical Laboratories in Gaborone, Francistown, Selebi-Phikwe, Palapye, Maun, and Kazungula.  He was previously engaged as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with United Bulawayo Hospitals.

Additional Member: Ms. Thongbotho Mphoyakgosi

Ms. Thongbotho Mphoyakgosi currently holds the position of Chief Medical Laboratory Technician at the Botswana-Harvard HIV Reference Laboratory (BHHRL).  She has 19 years’ experience in the medical laboratory service from various facilities, including the National Health Laboratory, Princess Marina Hospital, and Palapye Primary Hospital, the last 10 years of which, were in her current employment with BHHRL.

Additional Member: Ms. Phetogo Phoi MSc, MT (ASCP)

Ms Phetogo Phoi is a member of the BICLP Executive Committee (EXCO) and she is also one of the co-founders of the BICLP. Her role in the BICLP EXCO includes coordination of the quality management system mentorship project. Ms. Phoi is currently working for the USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program – Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) as Senior Supply Chain Program Coordinator. Prior to this, she worked as Country Director for the Supply Chain Management System (SCMS) project. She also worked for the Ministry of Health and Wellness as a Medical Laboratory Scientist for 16 years in various positions, one of which was the National Laboratory Quality Manager. Phetogo served as a member of the Botswana Health Professions Council from 2003-2006. She holds a master’s Degree in Transfusion and Transplantation Sciences from the University of Bristol, Bristol, United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from Howard University, Washington DC, USA.
